THE GENERAL'S

SPEAKERS LIST

Often, when the chair calls for countries who wish to be added to the general speakers’ list, the room immediately fills with waving placards above delegates’ heads. Following the roll call and the setting of the agenda, this is the time when most delegates are enthusiastic to speak up and share information about their countries with the council.

This is your time to shine too! Make sure to raise your placard up high and firm, and show everyone the product of your thorough research. However, you must prepare general research regarding the topic in a way that you are able to make a fascinating first impression. Addressing the issue in both national and international sectors is a great way to hint that you are a delegate worth of notice.

It’s okay if you missed your chance to be added to the general speakers’ lists though, you could still send a note up to the dais and request to be added to the list; although you might have to wait until the next time there isn’t a caucus in motion, that’s when the general speakers’ list will continue.

Usually, you would have 90 seconds to speak, and there is no set topic, so talk about anything and everything your country has to say, and make a good first impression!
