You must be wondering, what do I do in a MUN conference?

Well, in a MUN conference, you are acting as an official representative of your chosen country, and you would be known as a delegate. This would require you to know your country in a wider scope; some questions you can ask yourself about your country include:

  1. Is my country developed?

  2. Where is my country located?

  3. Which countries are my allies?

  4. What are some current issues my country is facing?

As a delegate, you should put your country’s interests firsthand and work out the best way you could achieve them during the conference by speaking out your country’s concerns and sharing possible solutions.

During moderated caucuses, stand up during your speeches, be sure to remain formal and refer to yourself in the third person (eg: “This delegate believes that…”). During unmoderated caucuses, you could leave your seat and join other delegates in discussions to make friends.

Around halfway through the conference, you are obligated to make a position paper with your bloc members, which would be eventually made into a draft resolution to be submitted to the chair.

As long as you are well prepared, you would feel more confident during the whole event, then you are good to go!
